  • Accessible parks and paths

Some of our parks have been designed to accommodate wheelchair-users. There are routes suitable for people with disabilities.

In Clement Wilson Park the short, circular route starts at Shaw’s Bridge car park. It is largely flat and is around 1.8km (1.1 miles) long. It passes through parkland and returns along a section of the Lagan Towpath. The ramps on this route are not standard and some wheelchair-users may require assistance.

At Lagan Meadows and Belvoir Park forest, the section of towpath along the Lagan from Stranmillis to Shaw’s Bridge (around 3.5km or 2.2miles long) is wheelchair-friendly. There are disabled fishing bays just off the towpath at Stranmillis. There are also two parking bays at the end of Sharman Road, just off Stranmillis Road.

Lagan and Lough Cycleway is a coastal path. It is accessible from Hazelbank Park and runs to Dargan Road. It is approximately three km long. This cycleway is part of the National Cycle Network.

Lagan riverside paths terrace along the Lagan from Ormeau Bridge to Donegall Quay (2.7km or 1.6 miles long) and Albertbridge to Queen’s Bridge (0.7km or 0.4 miles). The paths are suitable for people with limited mobility.

  • Inclusive events guide

Events organisers must comply with the Disability Discrimination Act. The guide has information on how events organisers can make events accessible to visitors. There is information on how organisers could make reasonable adjustments at events venues by considering time, space, adjustability and attitude.
