Belfast Clubmark

Belfast Clubmark is our quality accreditation scheme for sports clubs which supports clubs to become best practice sports clubs. We support, assess and accredit clubs with the award which is facilitated by us in partnership with SportNI.

Clubmark has changed to become an accreditation for:

• Junior only club accreditation (clubs that have members under 18)
• Senior and Junior accreditation
• Senior only accreditation (clubs must have no persons aged under 18)

Clubmark accreditation is based on:

• Effective management
• Community engagement
• Quality coaching and competition
• Creating a safe environment
• Safeguarding members

How to take part

Signing up to Belfast Clubmark is easy.

• Register at the Sport NI website  
• You’ll receive an accreditation pack.
• We’ll meet with you to discuss what the accreditation process involves.
• Your club submits portfolio for assessment to us.
• We’ll assess your club and accredit it to the appropriate level, depending on whether the club passes or fails.
• A letter is sent to your club informing you of your accreditation status.
• Your club receives a review of its accreditation every 12 months.
• A full renewal is needed after three years.

Benefits of the Belfast Clubmark programme include:

• support and guidance for your club
• potential to increase your membership and raise the club's profile
• club development opportunities
• development opportunities for coaches, administrators and volunteers
• discounted courses as part of our coach education scheme
• information and funding (£500, £750 and £1000 grants) from our Support for Sport grant scheme, and
• out-of-hours access to our leisure centres.

Silver and Gold accreditation

If your club has gained a Clubmark accreditation you may qualify for and additional levels. 

There are Silver and Gold accreditation levels available which reward clubs for additional measures of club development such as effective management and safeguarding and coaching.

• Silver level accredited clubs receive a £750 grant for club development.
• Gold level accredited clubs receive a £1000 grant for club development. (note only one grant per 12 month period)
