Food waste legislation for businesses

The Northern Ireland Environment Agency's legislation means all businesses that generate more than five kilograms (kg) of food waste must have a separate food waste collection.

This law applies to:

• commercial food businesses
• canteens
• social clubs
• schools
• not-for-profit organisations

It's the responsibility of the business to make the necessary arrangements to dispose of their waste. Our commercial waste service is one of many waste collection operators in the city that can provide a separate food waste collection service for you.
