Children are a vulnerable group and can be more seriously affected by food poisoning than other groups of people. Food safety in childcare establishments is very important.
If you are setting up a childminding business you must register it with us at least 28 days before you open the business.
To help you get started we've put together a leaflet containing advice, guidance and information on food safety legislation.
To speak to a member of staff about food safety for childminders, or to request a copy of the leaflet, email envhealth@belfastcity.gov.uk or call 028 9027 0468.
Safer food, better business
All food businesses are legally required to carry out a hazard analysis of the activities undertaken on a day-to-day basis in their food establishment.
This food safety management pack has been designed specifically for childminders. It will help you comply with food hygiene regulations, produce safe food and protect the children you look after.
Allergies and intolerances: Guidance for businesses
Businesses must provide information to customers who need to avoid certain ingredients due to a food allergy or intolerance.
The Food Standards Agency has developed a guide to provide general advice and information on food allergy and intolerance, allergen information rules and best practice guidance on cross-contamination controls for loose and prepacked foods.
