In 2012 we agreed to redevelop Falls Park to bring together and co-ordinate a range of projects to improve the park, the City Cemetery and the Whiterock area. The projects will offer better facilities for the community and make these areas more attractive, safe and welcoming for everyone.
The masterplan will see a total investment of around £6 million in this area.
The 14 projects agreed by the council in 2012 were:
Project | Status |

3G Hybrid Pitch and changing pavilion | Complete |

We have also received funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund to conserve the heritage of the City Cemetery.
We have appointed a contractor to carry out the physical works for the project. Initial works will involve the relocation of the current service yard (at the main entrance) to a new site adjacent to Foxes Lodge at the cemetery’s main exit. Once the new service yard is completed the site of the current service yard will be cleared to make way for the development of the new visitor centre. It is currently envisaged that the construction of the new visitor centre will commence this summer for completion by early summer 2021. Alongside these works restoration of some of the site’s key listed assets will also take place.
We're looking for people to get actively involved in the City Cemetery Heritage Project. We plan to deliver a wide range of initiatives from tours to schools programmes to heritage and biodiversity themed activities.
