We can help your community group organise a cleanup of your local area.
We'll give you brushes, shovels, litter picks, gloves and bags - all free of charge. They'll be delivered to you in advance and we'll collect them again, along with the rubbish, once the cleanup is complete. You'll need to give us at least one week's notice so we have time to organise the equipment.
It's your responsibility to look after the equipment and make sure that all items are returned at the end of the cleanup. You'll also have to sign a receipt when you receive the items.
To book a community clean-up, complete our online form (link opens in new window).
Read our guidelines for organising a community cleanup.
You can also book a clean-up or get more information about clean-ups by email catcleansing@belfastcity.gov.uk.
If you're organising an event, read our guidelines for managing litter and waste for event organisers. It gives you helpful advice on how to control litter before, during and after an event and how we can help you with the cleanup operation.
Discarded cigarette butts are a common problem. Put your extinguished cigarette butt in a bin or use one of our free pocket ashtrays until you find a bin.
Remember you can be fined £80 for dropping litter.
Free pocket ashtrays are available to residents in the Belfast area. To claim your free pocket ashtray you can visit our office:
