Shankill Shared Women's Centre is a £7.79 million purpose-built shared space for women and their families. The building is located near the interface area on Lanark Way and it opened in June 2024.
The team at the centre has provided education, training, health awareness, childcare and activities for women in the Greater Shankill and beyond for over 30 years.
The aim of the new building is to create a welcoming, safe and accessible shared space for women and their families from all communities. Its opening marks a new chapter for staff and users of the centre.
The team operating the original Shankill Women’s Centre will work with Clonard Neighbourhood Development Partnership incorporating Clonard Women’s Group to deliver services together in the years ahead.

The council-led project was funded by the European Union’s PEACE IV Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB). The PEACE IV Programme aims to create a more cohesive society through an increased provision of shared spaces and services.
The Department for Communities in Northern Ireland and the Department of Rural and Community Development in Ireland provided match-funding for the project. Funding was also provided by Belfast City Council.
Shankill Shared Women’s Centre is one of three PEACE IV shared space projects in Belfast.
