If you are carrying out work in Belfast, you must apply to us for approval. There are three ways to apply for Building Regulations approval full plans, building notice or regularisation.

You can use a full plans application for planned building work to a domestic property. You will need to provide us with:
You will normally need to employ an architect or building surveyor to provide the drawings and specification required. You can make the application yourself, or your agent (for example your architect) can do this for you.
You can only make a building notice application for minor planned work to a single domestic property. You should fill in one copy of the application form and send it to us with the appropriate fee. You do not need to send us drawings, but we may ask you for more information if we need it.
A regularisation application is used when you need building regulations approval for work that has already been carried out to a property without anyone applying to us for approval. You should fill in one copy of the application form and send it to us with the appropriate fee.
