Belfast Zoo will be closed from Monday 6 January to Friday 10 January 2020 and from Monday 13 January to Friday 17 January 2020, opening only on weekends.
The zoo will be closed on these dates for essential maintenance. During this closure time, the Belfast Zoo staff will be able to carry out their essential training across the 55 acre site. This essential maintenance and training ensures that Belfast Zoo and all of the Belfast Zoo staff are up-to-date with health and safety regulations.
Zoo manager, Alyn Cairns, explains “Belfast Zoo is usually open every day of the year, except for Christmas Day and Boxing Day. However, this year we have had to make the decision to close again for selected dates in January to allow us to carry out essential maintenance work. We aim to provide the best experience possible to all of our visitors and the closure will give us time to complete the work with minimal disruption to visitors. During this time we will also be able to complete staff training exercises. We apologise for any disappointment caused during this time and look forward to welcoming everyone back again soon!’’
The zoo will re-open as normal from Saturday 18 January.
Note: Due to a change in the catering franchise at Belfast Zoo, The Lion’s Den and Treetop cafes will be closed from 2 January to Friday 17 January 2020. The Lion’s Den will be open at weekends only from 18 January to 31 January 2020.
