Belfast Film Festival is making a film about you, with you, the people of Belfast!
The Hearth is a co-created filmmaking project with the people of Belfast, Belfast Film Festival, and filmmaker, Mark Cousins. This film will embrace the collective spirit of the city and highlight everyday Belfast stories in 2024.
We want to create a self-portrait of Belfast in 2024, on film, through your eyes and your stories, exploring the distinctive aspects of the city—its cultural activities, its people, its buildings, businesses, and landscapes.
Get Involved! There are several ways you can get involved. If you’re a member of a community or interest group and want us to visit your group and chat about getting involved, email us at: thehearth@belfastfilmfestival.org
Or why not become part of the film crew by filming a story on your phone and send it to us; it could be you or someone you know who has great story to tell. You can film the area you live in, an everyday visit to a local shop, church, chatting with friends. It can be anything at all. What do you want to show the world about who you are and everyday life in Belfast?
Guidelines on how we would like you to film on your phone/camera and how to send us your video can be found at https://belfastfilmfestival.org/the-hearth - (Link opens in new window)
Have a story but don’t want to film anything - you can write a short story, observation, poem which could be used as voice overs.
This project is supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, thanks to National Lottery players and is part of Our Future Heritage portfolio of projects which help us all enjoy and understand Belfast's heritage.
